The Store Systems – Network Support team provides 24*7 production support for FGL corporate and franchise, Mark’s, National Sports, Pro-Hockey Life and Paderno brands. The team works core business hours and provides off-hours project and pager support on a rotating basis.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Network Administrator to maintain a reliable, secure and efficient data communications network. The ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth network operation.
Specific duties include:

– Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade network equipment

– Install and integrate new server hardware and applications

– Ensure network security and connectivity

– Monitor network performance (availability, utilization and latency) and test for weaknesses

– Collect and analyze data to optimize performance

– Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords

– Resolve problems assigned by lower level support teams

– Define network policies and procedures

– Specify system requirements and design solutions

– Research and make recommendations on network systems administration

What you’ve done

The successful candidate will have the followin g:

– Proven experience in a network administrator role

– Good analytical and problem-solving skills

– Ability to work after hours, nights and weekends

– Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices

– Hands on experience in Cisco routing and switching

– Experience supporting networks that have a large number of remote sites

– Ability to quickly learn technologies and products using documentation and internet resources

– Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of networking infrastructure

– Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired

– Ability to set up and configure Cisco hardware

– Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies

– Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking

– Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE training

– BSc degree in Computer Science or related field, or revenant experience

Department Overview:

The Database Administration Services team within Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) is responsible for providing the following database-related services to Canadian Tire Bank (CTB), Canadian Tire Retail (CTR), Forzani group/Marks (FGL):

24 x 7 rotational on-call support for production databases
Database technology planning, project support and consulting
IMS, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Netezza, and MariaDB database design/ maintenance
Database disaster recovery planning and testing
Database security administration
All DBMS environments reside on Z/OS, Windows, Linux, AIX, ESX platforms.

DBA Role Responsibilities:

This role will support both Project work and Operational support activities:

Proactively manage the Oracle, SQL server, and Maria DB (MySQL) database environments to identify performance issues within the environment and assist in tuning, root cause analysis and remediation.
Perform upgrades and security patches to databases as required.
Assist application development with logical & physical database design considerations, database refreshes, cloning, and backups.
Perform database changes and code promotions according to CTC/FGL Change management processes and standards.
Document and communicate database changes.
Contribute to ongoing development of standards and best practices.
Provide service and support determined by the current Service Level Agreements; including 24 x 7 rotational on-call support for production databases.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in computing or information systems.
1-3 + years’ experience as an Oracle DBA (11g/12c), which includes Oracle installations and patching, database migrations and upgrades, troubleshooting and performance tuning, Oracle database replication (Data Guard), and experience with database backup and recovery (including RMAN).
1-3 + years’ experience as a SQL server DBA (SQL 2008, 2012, 2016) which includes replication (Always On).
Experience with AIX and Linux (RHEL)
Experience with windows 2008/2012, including failover clustering
Scripting in Windows PowerShell and Batch, UNIX/Linux shell and perl, SQL and T-SQL
Experience with Enterprise backup software for Oracle and SQL Server databases (IBM TDPO and TDPSQL)
Understanding of all phases of the application development lifecycle and project management disciplines, including Agile.
Must demonstrate proven ability to analyze problems, propose permanent solutions, and resolve/close issues using Oracle OEM and SQL Foglight diagnostic tools.
Candidate must work well in a fast-paced, changing environment and be able to multi-task, projects and initiatives.
Must be willing to take responsibility and be results oriented.
Excellent organization, teamwork, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization.

We are Canadian Tire in Westhills. One of only a few auto centers in the westhills area. We have a huge clientele. We are a full service shop with 15 bays, 2 newer Hunter alignment racks and a Quick check machine. We have most of the flush equipment required for maintenance repairs. We have a top notch back parts team with access to a great network of part suppliers to get the job done. We are a flat rate shop with a bonus incentive that is retroactive.

You will be a licensed journeymen technician capable of diagnosing and repairing vehicles as outlined on the repair order. responsible for keeping document information accurate and looking beyond the initial complaint to find any safety related disorders with the vehicle along with maintenance items that may be lacking. Performing quick alignment checks on all cars to help drive the alignment business. You check and we sell it you do it.

Qualifications and Skills

Red Seal Journeymen or 4th term apprentice with the tools of the trade. Out of province license a benefit as Canadian tire is the go to store for Federal inspections required for out of country inspections which leads to an Out of Province as well.
